Creative Curiosities: A Halloween Celebration

Halloween is right around the corner, so it’s only fitting that we ask our Creative Consumers® associates (CCs) about how they’re celebrating, who’ll be joining the fun, and where they’re allocating their Halloween budget. To gather all of our responses, we used our Inspire® Consumer Insight Accelerator to poll the CCs and capture some photos they’ve taken while getting ready for the spooky season!

The Festivities

We asked 51 of our Creative Consumers® associates, “How do you plan to celebrate the Halloween season?” From scary movie marathons to dazzling costumes - here’s how the CCs plan on observing the seasonal festivities of October:

Less tricks – more treats! Among the CCs, the most popular way to get into the spirit of Halloween was with spooky seasonal candies and concoctions.

71% of the CCs said that during October, they partake in the making, tasting, or creating festive foods like traditional sweet treats we know and love, to fun healthy pumpkin seed snacks (and even a charcuterie board)!

The next most popular October activity was dressing up in sickeningly cool costumes with 35 of our CCs telling us they’re planning to get into character this year with awesome getups like a mouse and cheese duo, the Monsters Inc. crew, and the classic, Beetlejuice.

Few things feel more reminiscent of October than creature features and slasher flicks! 24 of our Creative Consumers® associates had a cozy scare-filled night in this season.

With classics like Hellraiser, Halloween, Hocus Pocus, and more, our CCs faced no shortage of entertainment this month!

Of those polled, 17 of our CCs brought on the ghosts and ghouls partaking in the spookiest of Samhain’s with creepy-cool decorations and visits to haunted houses like the iconic Mortuary in New Orleans!

Some of our CCs embraced the outdoors like, Wendy N. ,who completed a 5k Halloween run, or Creative Consumers® associates, Melanie C., who did some fall apple picking! CC Danielle C., got into the holiday spirit by heading to a haunted theme park!

And, who could forget, pumpkin carving! Below are just a few of the pics our CCs snapped of their creations from beachy turtles, to popular cartoon characters from shows like Bob’s Burgers, Spirited Away, and Pokémon!

The Gang

Our Creative Consumers® associates aren’t celebrating alone! We surveyed to see who’ll join them during the October festivities by asking, “Who do you typically celebrate Halloween with?” The results can be seen in the chart below along with some of the pictures they’ve captured of them and their crews!

Our CCs love sharing the fun with others with 84% spending most of the holiday with their friends, 80% with their significant other, and 61% with their families – all of which are pictured below!

And of course, we had to spotlight a collection of the pets dressing up this year!

The Budget

To wrap up our mini survey, we asked our Creative Consumers® associates about what they like to prioritize when shopping, asking: “When shopping for Halloween, where do you spend the most of your budget?” We had six categories: interior decorations, exterior decorations, costumes, treats, Halloween parties, and other!

The most popular answer was costumes with 35 of the 51 CCs we asked saying that a large portion of their budget goes to what they’re wearing.

A close second with 29 was the tricks & treats - a category that our Creative Consumers® associates certainly don’t take lightly with delicious donuts and snacks galore!

With interior decorations receiving 14 votes, and exterior decorations getting 22 - total, holiday adornments are the highest category on our list with 36 of our CCs stating that the extra pizzaz they add to the home takes up a considerable chunk of the spending. Judging by these fantastic displays it’s TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Our Creative Consumers® associates never fail to show us their amazing creative talents, and this October is no different! From haunted donuts and charcuterie boards to puppies dressed up like a loaf of Wonder Bread; however you’re planning to celebrate Halloween this year, we hope you make some amazing memories - just like our CCs!
