Creative Curiosities: A Summer Closeout

A summer wrap-up with our Creative Consumers(r) Associates

With summer coming to a close, we wanted to ask our Creative Consumers® associates about some of the adventures they embarked on this season, who joined them, and what they’d like to have spent a little more time doing. To gather all of our responses, we used our Inspire® Consumer Insight Accelerator to poll the CCs and capture some photos they took on their exciting summer excursions.

The Summer Adventures

We asked the Creative Consumers® associates, “Over the past few months, did you take part in any of the following sorts of vacations?” From sandy beach trips to time-zone hopping across countries, here’s what the CCs’ summers looked like:

Bar chart called CCs Summer Adventures. Data: 22 (49%) - Beach Trip; 8 (18%) - Smores & Camping; 23 (51%) - New Sights; 12 (27%) - Time-Zone Hopping; 2 (4%) - High Seas Cruise; 20 (44%) - Road Trip; 33 (73%) - Staycation; 11 (24%) - Other

The most popular summer activity the CCs engaged in this summer was a cozy staycation – no surprise there!

73% of them found themselves kicking back to relax at some point with snacking, spa days, meditation, and movie nights with thrilling picks like the recent Netflix hit, Don’t Look UP!

Our next most popular activity was exploring new sights with 23 of our CCs spanning all the way from Ottawa, Canada to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they visited historical memorials, waterfalls, and art shows.

What’s a summer without a few beach days? Coastline vacations may be a staple, but they come in all shapes and sizes!

Here are some of the unique snapshots the 22 beach-traversing Creative Consumers® associates nabbed on their seaside getaways.

Few things feel more reminiscent of summer than s’more on a crackling fire. 18% of the CCs got in touch with nature on a camping trip this season sleeping under the stars and checking out the scenic mountain and lakeside views like Creative Consumers® associate, Chris Collins, whose photo is pictured third from the left.

Some of our CCs found themselves approaching their summer in other ways, like Creative Consumers® associate, Sarah G., who said she spent the summer, “learning about bird watching at the local bird sanctuary, exploring farmers markets, then teaching myself to dehydrate the 20 pounds of tart cherries I bought on impulse.”

Creative Consumers® associate, Laura F., said that her summer adventures were full of, “Six Flags Great Adventures, gardening, and swimming.”

The Partners in Crime

On the adventures our Creative Consumers® associates engaged in, they weren’t alone! We surveyed to see who joined them on their voyages close and far asking, “During your summer adventures this year, who were you typically with?” The results can be seen in the chart below along with some of the pictures they captured with their crews.

Bar chart titled CCs Adventure Companions. Chart shows 31 (69%) chose Family, 24 (53%) chose Friend(s), 29 (64%) chose Significant Other, 10 (22%) chose Pets, 10 (22%) chose Solo, and 2 (4%) chose Other

Our CCs loved to share their summer with others with 69% spending most of their time with family, 53% with friends, and 64% with their significant others all pictured below!

And of course, we had to spotlight a collection of the pets partaking in the summer fun!

Wishes for Next Summer

To wrap up our mini survey, we asked our Creative Consumers® associates about what kind of activities they would’ve liked to spend a little more time partaking in if given the chance with four categories: seeing more sights, taking more time to kick back, engaging in more fun activities, and hanging out with more friends/family.

Bar chart entitled CCs Summer Wishes. Chart shows 24 (53%) chose More Sights, 32 (71%) chose More Relaxation, 20 (44%) chose More Doing, and 21 (47%) chose More People

Around half of our CCs wanted to partake in more ventures of activities, sights, and people, but 71% percent wished they had just a little more time to bask in some relaxation.

There were 24 CCs that wanted to spend more time taking in the scenery of their escapade, so here are some shots of the places they’re missing:

Whether you tried your hand at making your own cherry jam or scaling a hilly mountainside; no matter where your summer took you this year, we hope you had a chance to make some amazing memories - just like our CCs!
